Obra para Banda Sinfónica, estrenada por la Banda Municipal de Sevilla.

"La Túnica de Neso - The Tunic of Nessus"

"La Túnica de Neso". Una obra que permite ser narrada o solo instrumental, de unos 14 minutos aproximadamente,  donde se mezcla diferente estilos compositivos, como Contemporáneo, Neo-modal y Neo-romántico. Esta interpretada por la Banda Sinfónica del Conservatorio superior de Música de Sevilla, y dirigida por D. Justo Jimenez.

LA TÚNICA DE NESO

Según la mitología griega, los centauros son una raza de seres con el torso y la cabeza de humano y el cuerpo de caballo. Vivían en las montañas de Tesalia y se les consideraba hijos de Kentauros y algunas yeguas magnesias, o de Apolo y Hebe. El personaje general de los  centauros es el de seres salvajes, sin leyes ni hospitalidad, esclavos de las pasiones animales. Neso, era un famoso centauro, hijo de Ixión y Néfele.

“La bella Deyanira”

Deyanira era la hija de Altea y Eneo (reyes de Calidón). Era tan hermosa que Heracles a los pocos días se casó con ella. Heracles, el mayor héroe del antiguo mundo olímpico, luchó con Aqueloo por la mano de Deyanira y derrotó al dios-río.

“EL Rapto”

Durante un viaje la pareja tuvo que cruzar el río Eveno, el centauro Neso se ofreció en llevar a Deyanira sobre su grupa mientras Heracles atravesaba la corriente a nado. Neso cautivado por la belleza de Deyanira se enamoro , y cuando se halló en tierra firme, galopó para raptarla. Al ver a su esposa en peligro, Heracles disparó una flecha contra Neso que le acertó en el corazón.

Mientras el centauro agonizaba le dijo a Deyanira que tomara un poco de su sangre diciéndole: “Cuando sientas que empiezas a perder el cariño de Heracles, úsala sin dudarlo y recuperaras su amor al instante.

“La Venganza de Neso”

Heracles regresó a Ecalia, y raptó a Yole. Para celebrar la victoria sacrificó doce bueyes en honor a Zeus. Heracles encargo a Deyanira una túnica pues la que llevaba estaba estropeadísima para tal acontecimiento. Deyanira muerta en celos, echó la sangre de Neso en la túnica de Heracles. Sin embargo la sangre de Neso no era un talismán si no un veneno mortal de devastadores efectos.

Cuando Heracles se arropó la túnica su piel se quemaba, se tiró al río, pero se puso peor. Cuando Deyanira se enteró, se hundió un puñal en el pecho, y Heracles acabó muriendo con la piel del León de Nemea, su maza, su arco y tales flechas del veneno de la hidra de Lerna. Tal y como cuenta la historia la muerte de Heracles fue una gran pérdida para los humanos.

(Work in four episodes)

“Nessus the Centaur”

According to Greek mythology, centaurs are a race of beings, half humans and half horses. They own the torso and the head of a human and the body of a horse. Centaurs are wild, slaves of animal passions and they have no laws or hospitality. Nessus was a famous centaur,  and he was the son of Ixion and Nephele.

“The beautiful Deianeira”

Deianeira was the daughter of Althaea and Oeneus (kings of Calydon). She was so pretty that Heracles married her few days after they met for the very first time. Heracles, the greatest hero of the ancient olympic world, fought against Aqueloo to get Deianeira’s hand and defeated the God-river.

“The Abduction”

During a trip, the couple had to go across the river Eveno, and the centaur Nessus offered to take Deianeira on his rump while Heracles swam across the stream. Nessus, captivated by her beauty, fell in love with Deianeira and, when the centaur came out of the water, he galloped in order to abduct her. Realizing that his wife was in danger, Heracles threw an arrow against Nessus, which was direct to his heart. 

While the centaur was agonizing, he told Deianeira to take a bit of his blood by saying: “When you notice that you are starting to lose Heracle’s love, use it without any hesitation and you will have his love back immediately”.

“The revenge of Nessus”

Heracles went back to Ecalia and abducted Yole. In order to celebrate the victory, Heracles ordered a tunic for Deianeira because her tunic was damaged and not proper for such occasion. Deianeira was so jealous that she spilt Nessus’s blood over Heracles’s tunic. However, Nessus’s blood was not a talisman, but lethal venom with devastating effects.  

         When Heracles put on his tunic, his skin was burning and he decided to jump into the river to palliate this, but he got worse. Once Deianeira heard the news, she stuck a dagger on the chest and Heracles finished dying.
